Cloisters

We are getting dumped on with snow--it is magical.  I spent most of the day baking goodies in the kitchen with the kids so that we can have an "Olympics party" tonight.  The rest of my time was spent putting on and taking of snowsuits and gloves and then retrieving said gloves from Eowyn's mouth.  She steals everything she can and just races off with it.  I am joking now that her name is "Eowyn-no!" because she hardly hears it any other way.

I have a few more pictures of the Cloisters to share with you. I had jotted down little facts about each shot while I was there but I think it would be distracting if I added them here.  What I really want is for you to get a feel of what it is like to be there. Not interjecting my thoughts but just letting the place speak for itself.  Most of the art is from between the 13th and 16th century.

This so reminds me of this novel I am reading right now. Part of it is set in this time period. Very interesting. Now I have more pictures for my mind as I read!!!

Wow.

I encouraged Jessica to take Rachel's children there on spring break. J tries to do a field trip with the kids each year.

Our district has a snow day today... which means my daughter is home. Yay!
You should have heard us chanting last night - "Snow day, snow day, snow day!"
:)

Working on another journal today.
Habit forming.

Have a good weekend!!!

Breathtaking. I was showing Carl the pictures from the last post, and we both decided we have to visit there someday. (I have to confess my geek-ness, though, in that as soon as I saw the picture of the doors, my first thought was: Ooh, looks like something out of Lord of the Rings!)

What fun to have an Olympics party! Did you let the kids stay up to watch the skating? I can't believe the Games are over this Sunday; such a wonderful time it has been!

Beautiful, you got some awesome pictures.  Thank you so much for posting them all.  I liked just sitting here, absorbing them, every single one.
