Joy

Steve had the unique privilege of baptizing his sons this past Sunday.

We spent the week leading up to it talking with them to make sure they understood what it meant.  Steve talked about his own baptism in Niger, West Africa where his parents are missionaries.

When I was growing up, the church we were attending did not have a baptismal so we would go to a church in the afternoon and borrow the building for baptisms when we needed to.  That building is the church Steve and I attend now.  It was really special that Jeff and Eti were baptized in the same baptismal that some of my siblings were baptized in.

Steve's parents came, my Grandma, my parents and my sister Janet all came. Having them there made it extra special.

Jeff just said tonight, "Jesus is always with me, even when I am distracted by reading or playing a game I will get a whiff of Jesus, and I know He is with me, I talk to Him in my mind."

Steve and I gripped hands tightly under the table, I know we were both thinking "Oh, sweet boy we hope you always walk in the truth."

There is just no greater joy!

This is FABulous! I LOVE what Jeff said..."get a whiff of Jesus..." I hope he experiences more and more of those Jesus whiffs as he realizes that Jesus is in him and through him.

Thanks so much for sharing this amazing day with us Jo.  I'm thrilled to see that our Jesus has won over the hearts of your little men.  I love the pic of little Steve as well.  The flame passes on.

what an incredible blessing. wow...for a dad to be able to baptize his son's, to hear them speak of the love of the Lord...wow. I imagine his heart (and your's) was overcome with the wonder of it all. I pray deeply for your children as well that they will strive after the Lord and love him deeply. It sounds to me when reading what Jeff said that he has a bit of his mom's artistic outlook on life...how beautiful. Love you jo!

just as a side note - i borrowed the picture of Chloe and Eowyn that you had taken and put it as my wall paper...it makes me sooo happy every day to see this beautiful dog that is part of your home and the joy on miss chloe's face. i miss my puppy so much, we had 13 amazing years together...i was thinking the other day that true lovers of animals realize that its not always the animals that need us, its definately us that needs them. I'm so excited that you guys have a dog now and the love that she will bring to you all as well. thank you for sharing those pics of her....sometimes i just want to desperately reach through my screen and hold her close. she looks like a beautiful dog with a fantastic nature...I am sure the Lord will use her to bless your family on the journey ahead.

have you guys heard any more about the stability of Steve's job? How is the adoption journey going? i think of you my dear.

That's so AWESOME! I was baptized at 18 (well, the day before my 18th birthday), and the "whiff of Jesus" part is the thing I couldn't explain to my family, who were/are non-Christians. Such a sweet and innocent way of putting it!

I did not have the privilege of letting my parents raise me in the ways of the Lord, so that is the best part of your story to me! Congratulations!
