You gotta try this

DSC_2667web

I laid down the picnic blanket, but I could not convince Chloe or Jeff to join me. Eti was my accomplice and he said "Let's lay long enough so that we are completely covered in snow!"  And so we did.

We each had an earbud.

The song I chose is here

It was perfect...perfect.

The air was cold enough for it to be snowing but warm enough to be enjoyable.

When you lay on your back all you can see is sky and  tree branches.  I was thinking that the experience would be the same if you lived in the projects or in a mansion.  All that is needed are some really great songs that you love and to lay down to watch the snow fall until you are covered in snow.

The flakes fell like poetry through the air and then melted on our fingers, our cheeks, our foreheads, our eyelids.

It was like all of nature could hear my music.

A hawk flew over the tree tops.

Eti ran off after the first song to build an igloo but I stayed to hear this song three times and then U2's "Beautiful Day" and Kutless' "Redeemer".

I smiled thinking about my adventure the rest of the day.

I used too, as a children, as a teen, I would now but my big belly is heavier and I don't like to be on my back...but Jo, try it without the music sometime, too,  if you can (maybe the next time you are in the country?) the silence of the snow falling adds even more magic.  And I will always love the feel of soft snowflakes falling on my face....hmmmmmm, and the smell of the cold air.  It's amazing how your senses awake when you slow down (or stop!)

Have a great day!  Today will feel like Friday to me because Rich took tomorrow off for my birthday!  Hurray!

Oh yes...I can see it now....the neighbors watching me lay on a blanket in the snow...then the struggle as I try to get up!!!
LOL!

Seriously, it does sound so enchanting....
I can only imagine the stories J,E and C will tell their children about their mother.

Great post, JO!

I've done something similar before, only at night ... lay there in the great stillness of falling snow and watched the heavens. I've never tried it during the day, though, or with music, so that's definitely going on my list of things to do before I die!

I love it, but I wouldn't have done it!!!! I did go for a walk in the snow. For this African, that was quite adventurous enough!

Oh, that does sound like a party for the senses.  (problem...we already had 12 inches on the ground...LOL)  I would have been buried in no time.  I love the stillness of the snow.  I just seems so quiet when snow is on the ground.
