Happy Saint Patrick's day

Thank you so much for all of your kind words, Steve and I have read and re read what you wrote and were so encouraged.  He said a few times, isn't it amazing that you have such good friends many you have never met?  It is so true!

Steve has been after me to finish the pictures from our Ireland trip, and said this week would be a perfect time!

On Sunday morning, the day after the wedding we went to an information center and found out about Corcomroe Abbey.  On Easter all of the locals come up here while it is still dark, they light large bonfires, the farmers wives make tea and they sing hymns while they watch the sun come up.  I think last year was the last time they did it, I would have loved to come back and spend Easter on the side of a green hill in Ireland on a foggy morning sipping tea and singing near this Abbey.

There is nothing but farmland on every side and a view of the Burren in the distance.

Below is what I was taking a picture of.  It really does get inside of you, walking around all by yourself, running your hands over the stones.  I had a hard time deciding if I should journal, sing, take pictures, or just sit and stare.  All of it is an attempt to take it with you, to remember, my favorite times in Ireland were when we were in a place long enough to relax, to get the feeling of the place, to the point where you do not need to record it, you walk away knowing you will never forget.

Along the coast there are spots where the land broke away and formed into its own island.  I met a father and son who were carrying a fishing pole in one hand and a bucket of mackerel in the other. The son had a face full of freckles, bright red hair and a head full of local history, he told me this island that I had just taken a picture of was called Bishops head.  In ancient times bishops used to dwell there.

below is the top of the island, I shot it using my longer lens.

This is my favorite picture taken of Steve so far.  I stayed at the top of the hill where there was hints of a long ago castle, and local people to watch and Gaelic to be heard.  Steve walked down the slope to the waters edge, and I ended up watching him more than anything else around me.

I love these.  I especially like the island one.  It almost doesn't look like it was from this world.  I hope your St. Patrick's day is full of pinching and beautiful green things.  :)

Thinking of You...

Hi Joanna. It has been a long time since I have talked to you. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. I hope that good things are ahead for all of you. I know that your strength and faith will bring you through anything that is to come.

Whenever you are feeling down, look in the eyes of your children. They hold the future and so much hope. They have yet to be tarnished by the world.

Thinking of you and your family
Rachel

Dad just found out recently that waay back in our family history is an Irish baron, and somewhere in Ireland is a ruined castle which belonged to him. Now I've added that to my list of places to visit before I die--find the ruins of our ancestor's castle! Love the pics, especially the last.

I am so much enjoying this trip of yours.  And I just now read about Steve's job loss.  Bummers!  But it was so inspiring to read of your faith and his ~ and I know God will do his part, which is to provide for you and your family.  He is always faithful!!!  Blessings to you all ~

You totally captured something I have always felt but have never been able to put into words. I am constantly trying to burn things into my mind so I have them even after the experience is over.
The pictures are amazing and I think you have confirmed for me that Ireland is the first place I want to go in Europe!
I am praying for you friend!

I will be praying for you and your husband. Your relationship is strong and so is your family....yes, these things show up in pictures!! :)
I have no doubt in my heart that you'll be A-OK...and if your hubby is even *half* as creative and productive as you are----someone will snap him up immediately!!! :) The Lord knows our needs before we do!

Your Ireland pics are gorgeous. Makes me want to go boil some potatoes and listen to celtic music. (ha!)

Oooo. . .these pictures were great!  What great things to reflect on.  I'm glad you spread them over a period of time.  What a treat!  That island is amazing!  How did the bishops get to the top?

@ElishaDecker - This part of land used to be attached and over time broke away.  It was so much cooler in person!
