| | Thank you so much for all of your kind words, Steve and I have read and re read what you wrote and were so encouraged. He said a few times, isn't it amazing that you have such good friends many you have never met? It is so true! Steve has been after me to finish the pictures from our Ireland trip, and said this week would be a perfect time! On Sunday morning, the day after the wedding we went to an information center and found out about Corcomroe Abbey. On Easter all of the locals come up here while it is still dark, they light large bonfires, the farmers wives make tea and they sing hymns while they watch the sun come up. I think last year was the last time they did it, I would have loved to come back and spend Easter on the side of a green hill in Ireland on a foggy morning sipping tea and singing near this Abbey. There is nothing but farmland on every side and a view of the Burren in the distance.
Below is what I was taking a picture of. It really does get inside of you, walking around all by yourself, running your hands over the stones. I had a hard time deciding if I should journal, sing, take pictures, or just sit and stare. All of it is an attempt to take it with you, to remember, my favorite times in Ireland were when we were in a place long enough to relax, to get the feeling of the place, to the point where you do not need to record it, you walk away knowing you will never forget.
"It is one of the most peaceful places on earth." -The Burren Pages
An effigy for King Conor O'brien whose Grandfather was probably responsible for building this and other abbeys in the area.
Along the coast there are spots where the land broke away and formed into its own island. I met a father and son who were carrying a fishing pole in one hand and a bucket of mackerel in the other. The son had a face full of freckles, bright red hair and a head full of local history, he told me this island that I had just taken a picture of was called Bishops head. In ancient times bishops used to dwell there. below is the top of the island, I shot it using my longer lens.
This is my favorite picture taken of Steve so far. I stayed at the top of the hill where there was hints of a long ago castle, and local people to watch and Gaelic to be heard. Steve walked down the slope to the waters edge, and I ended up watching him more than anything else around me. |

Hi Joanna. It has been a long time since I have talked to you. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you. I hope that good things are ahead for all of you. I know that your strength and faith will bring you through anything that is to come.
Whenever you are feeling down, look in the eyes of your children. They hold the future and so much hope. They have yet to be tarnished by the world.
Thinking of you and your family
