011date

Eti wanted overalls more than anything else for Christmas.  It is really hard to find overalls size seven, but Steve's parents live in farm-ville and were able to find a pair at the local tractor supply company.  Eti wore them for three days in a row, slept in them, and begged me to put him in the washer with them when I washed them.

Every day he has something new in the pockets, on this day it was gum my Dad had given him.  He went around in his serious voice (it is quite bit lower than his everyday voice) asking if anyone would like some gum.

The window above the sink got fogged up and steve drew our initials on a heart, later when he came in the room he saw that a chair had been dragged over to the sink.  Apparently Eti wanted to be included.  We laughed over it because it reminded us of when he was a toddler whenever Steve and I would hug it was always Eti who was elbowing his way between us and would stand their hugging our legs, just wanting to be part of the love.

I closed out my wedding year by flying to Atlanta, I met the bride, Kezia last year through my friend Sherry.

So here I was spending the night at Kezia's house far from home, missing my kids and best friend.  And so heavy with the weight of the upcoming wedding.

I remembered that I did not take a picture that day and decided to get a picture of the bed I was sleeping in that night.

Kezia said, "You get a treat tonight, you can sleep in the bed I slept in many times as a young girl it is my Grandmother's antique bed."  And it was a treat, it was a very high sleigh bed with very cool carvings in the wood. The best part was the old white comforter that was so much like what my Grandmother had at her old farmhouse.

Visual things like this that bring us back to our past, good memories of our past can be so calming

The next day I drove all over Atlanta scoping out locations with the bride's best friend who has worked at CNN for over twenty years.

All my kids LIVED in Big Smiths! We had them in every size! They were purchased at the farm supply, too! I can remember that my mother was never keen on Rachel wearing them back in the day- starting at toddler size...but you know... it was the 70's....and bibs went with all the stripedy-striped shirts as well as the solids! I also had a thing about neatness and bibs always looked neat. No shirt tails hanging out...
Sweet window shot!
Your little E is such a middle. I used to tell my middle that he was the cream in the middle of the oreo.

Everyone wants to be included in the love.

My little Jakey got overalls for Christmas too.....and has wore them over and over and over. He feels like he has to wear his rainboots with his overalls, and he feels like he must have a wrench, screwdriver or hammer handy at all times. :) When I checked his pockets before (FINALLY) washing the overalls....he had a list written in his 3 year old language. I'm sure it was building materials for his "big job" that he's always talking about.

I used to live in Atlanta. The pictures you took were great. You made it look tolerable to be inside the loop. (LOL)

Good for Eti ~ overalls are the BEST things to wear...I proudly replaced mine last year and they are Big Smith's too!  No matter what Oprah says, overalls are a girl's (or guy's) best friend  :>)

Wow!  That sounds like quite the experience.  I love overall's. I used to have a few pairs (the shorts kind too).  They are so comfy and you can do a lot of things to them to make them look cool.  Did you go to school for photography?  Do you have a website for your business?

Wow.
Whenever I read your xanga, it makes me so excited for the day that I marry MY best friend and have children.
I mean, that day is nowhere near.

But it's nice to know that it can be so beautiful and amazing.

My 11 year old girl loved getting a pair of hand-me-down overalls - she still wears them at least once a week.

I love antique beds...

My sister and I grew up in overalls, and Dasha has had them at every size thus far. They really are the best things ever. Love the window story ... both Steve drawing the heart with initials in the first place, and then Eti "improving" it. He really is the sweetest little guy!

@Decorating_Nana - No I didn't,  the bride was busy with the upcoming wedding and I did not want to ask her "Excuse me can I take photos of your bed and post it on the internet?" so I did not even take more for myself, only this picture above that I felt did not "tell" too much.

It's been a while since any of my boys have put on overalls.  I think they've all outgrown them.  I do love a little boy in them, there's just something so cute about them, esp. with pink bubblegum in the pocket!

thanks for the encouragement. :) i guess the humane side of me likes to know people are paying attention and enjoy seeing the pictures and reading the words, as amateur and confusing as they may be sometimes.

i like the first picture. it's cute - shows the simplicity and humor of a child. and i love your header! did you create it?

okay...I know I'm a lurker, but I love your site.  I did have a quick question.  The name of your bride, Kezia, struck me.  I'm wondering if it might have been my RD when I was in college (at Cedarville University in Ohio)...her last name wouldn't have been McNeal was it?  We so prayed that she would find an awesome husband when we were in school because she was so great.  But she didn't get married while I was there and I graduated 8 years ago...so I know it's a long shot, but I just had to find out!  I think my Kezia was from Atlanta, but that I can be sure about.
