| | We moved to this house almost five years ago, the only room that has not been painted is the hallway. It is the last to get painted partly because I liked how the walls still had the nails where frames had hung. Our house is over a hundred years old and I think the hall has the original paint, it must have been white but has faded to a dull yellow and where frames hung the color is a brighter shade. So if you stand back you can see squares of white all over the wall. A gallery left to the imagination. I know of the last family that lived here and the family that was raised in our house before them, all the sisters came back and wanted to walk through the house one last time for memories sake before we bought the house. I met the elderly daughter who was raised in the house before them, she lives in a nursing home now but has come to visit and talk about her memories here and she told me the little she knew of the family that lived here before her. I do not know who had the photographs hanging on the wall, but it is nice to think that so many children have been raised in this house. I have had swatches of paint on the wall in my hallway for over a year trying to find the right shade of blue, today I decided to finally paint and let the kids draw on one wall while I painted the apposite wall. It did keep them busy for over an hour and Steve got in on the action but after scrubbing the wall down and two coats of Kilz primer, it is still showing through. Every time the kids walk past that wall, they will remember the day Mom let them draw on this great big canvas and I will remember the "What was a I thinking?!" feeling I had putting up the third coat.
My new toy that Steve got me made the job go sooo much quicker. I am going to load this puppy up with Piper and Driscoll and hours of music. It was a lot of fun checking all of your comments from the last post on this. For two weeks leading up to Christmas, I heard from Steve "Do you want to know what your gift is?" or "I was playing with your gift tee hee hee" "If you don't want it I will have it" I started to suspect when the commercials for iPod Touch came on he would act all overly normal and there was that one time at Best Buy when he wanted me to come over and see how cool the ones that were on display were. I love it, and love how I can get my Pandora stations on it.
