Sunday afternoon before naps

The big thing this Summer for our family has been playing baseball in the backyard.  Chloe sits on her little base (big flat rocks because we are cheap) and she  picks the grass around her to make "soup".  When it is time to move she gets up all excited and runs as fast as her little three yr. old her legs can take her.  Her arms pumping and head down low.

Half the time I have no idea what I am doing, when the boys finally hit a ball I will start running too, even though I am the catcher.  I am just so excited for them! Steve will start laughing that outrageous head back laugh that is so contagious, in the end my sides hurt from laughing and all the kids are laughing too. They don't always know why, except that Mommy and Daddy are laughing and it all trickles down to them.

We have a few invisible friends that make up the team and the boys give them names.

Lately Jeff has been asking me to please have more kids so that we could have a full team.

Steve says that to really play correctly you need two teams so that is what? Eighteen kids?

After church Steve grilled our lunch and Jeff hit this shot into the neighbors yard right before we ate.

Jeff looks so much older.  It makes me sad - it seems like just yesterday he was this premie sized bundle in our arms.  But it also makes me happy.  I can see him swinging that bat with all that he's got and then everyone cheering as he rounds the bases.  Get ready for more broken windows, Jo!  :)  lol

That is so funny!  And fun!

Every time we go outside, my daughter (who is also 3) heads straight for the shed to get her bat and balls.  "Come on mommy!!"  And if she doesn't hit it (she's actually pretty good) she'll say, "Try and try again!!"

A little while ago, she came to one of my games with my husband and when I got up to bat she asked me what I was doing.  So I told her I was going to bat.  She says with no reserve, "Keep your eye on the ball mommy!"  And the catcher of the other team started laughing.  I said, "You can tell I've been working with her, huh??"

I like the black and white.  Nice photo!

BTW, I have a birthday next month and I'm going to do the once a day photo for a year.  See how it turns out.  I hope I can stick with it as I didn't before!  We called it the 365 day project.  LOL

Have a wonderful day!

Very fun!  We picked up bases at Target, I think they were only 10 dollars and there's no chance for broken toes. . . . . .

My boys have been loving it.   David, of course, can only play when he's in one of his patient happy go lucky moods.  If not, look out!

Jeff looks really handsome in this picture!~  18 kids huh?  I think you should stick with the "ghost men".

What a sweet post! I could almost hear the laughter of a wonderfully happy family on a Sunday afternoon! I bet the kids just love it!! That picture of your son is adorable! and I like your daughters way of playing!...sitting, resting a bit, picking grass for grass soup...then taking off when it is time! What special memories these are going to be for you all! I love the comments about the 18 kids! Yikes!!! I agree with Shanda about the sticking to "ghost men!" :o)

What a great snapshot. This reminds me of when my siblings and my father would go out and play wiffleball...we had a large hedge in the back, so we never hit the ball into the neighbor's yard, but we certainly had several get stuck! :)

I think you better think and rethink the whole 18 kids thing.  I mean the imaginary ones are soo much quieter and cleaner and you don't even have to feed them.  Imagine the amount of toilet paper you'd have to buy!  ; )

So funny!  This whole post gave me grin after grin.  I could picture it all!  Your little boy is getting to be not so little anymore!  18 kids phew.  Let's see you'd not only have a baseball team but a school room class.  Wouldn't art class be fun with than many creative kids!!!
