Doorkeeper

005blog

Before graduation Steve's Mom and Dad came to our house for a week to help us put insulation and a new ceiling in Coco's room.

Our home pre dates electricity and plumbing, I  asked the guys a hundred times "Did you find any hidden journals?"  the only thing they found was a post card that was one hundred years old.  No old musty smelling fat journal crammed with  black and white photographs and clues to the original owners of this house.

Etienne was Dad's shadow the entire week.  When Steve or Dad asked him to leave the room because it was dangerous he would sit outside the door playing with scraps of wood until  it was safe to come back in.  One of the days he was right outside the door for a few hours, content just to be close to where Grandpa was.  He is the same way with my Dad, he just wants to be near them and mimic all that they do.  In the first picture if you look close he is wearing red rubber boots and in the ridiculous skeleton shirt picture he is wearing Jeff's snow boots, why? Because there were nails on the floor in Chloe's room, he was not allowed in without shoes.  When he would wake up he did not want to waste a single moment getting proper shoes on so he would put on whatever would take the least amount of time so that he could get right back to his Grandpa's or Daddy's side.  It reminded me of the song by Phillips Craig and Dean

Lord, I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be just like me
I want to be a holy example
For his innocent eyes to see
Help me be a living Bible, Lord
That my little boy can read
I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be like me

And this verse:

Better is one day in your courts

than a thousand elsewhere;

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God

than dwell in the house of the wicked."

Psalm 84:10

Just stopping by from the Married Christian Women blogring and thought I would say hello! The pictures you posted are absolutely beautiful! Your little boy is so handsome. So cute that he wants so bad to be by his Grandpa's side and his Daddy's side helping them with their project. Makes me long for my Grandpa who is in heaven.

He's standing so tall and proud in these pictures ... so wonderful that he has godly men to imitate, and who let him be their shadows, without dismissing him or pushing him aside for the sake of expediency or ease. What a precious gift they are giving him!

I also love that second photo.

He reminds me of my daughter and when she wants to help me all the time whenever I'm putting something together or I get the power screwdriver out....or even a regular screwdriver or what not.

It's always a good feeling to know that the "youngins" look up to you instead of despise you!  LOL
