003blog

When I was doing a photo shoot for my sister-in-law Martha (last year)  her younger brother came into the room all excited because he had seen his first Robin and Martha explained to me that it is a tradition  that they have a picnic outside after they see the first robin every year.

I thought that was the coolest thing and it got me thinking about doing something with my kids.

So this year after we saw our first Robin we all cooked dinner together and  baked a cake.  Steve designed something on the computer for them to color.  It was a perfect night, one of those nights where I was patient (other mother's understand what I mean by this..it all just felt so right instead of chaotic)  and everyone was in fantastic moods, talkative and laughing.  And I wanted to bottle it up!  The cake was a recipe from the book in the last post it came out so good!

For all the Mammas out there I loaded the coloring page full size in the photoblog feel free to print it for your own kiddos.

I feel like I haven't been on a date in AGES.  I have a date with my TV tonight.  Boo.  I love the robin idea.  My backyard is full of creatures.  There's a bluejay nesting in a shrub/tree outside my kitchen window.  I plan to photograph her sitting on her eggs (if she'll let me!!!).  The squirrels are thick, and I've seen a cardinal family as well.  Robins too.  :)

What an awesome idea!  Thank you for sharing it!  I hope you have a GREAT time with your man!  Aren't you so glad that God gave you the perfect mate for your life!  I am so grateful for Jeremy!  We balance eachother out in such a way that only God could design . . .

what a great idea.

when i was a kid my mom always made of point of mentioning her spotting of the year's first robin but we never did anything about it. i just may have to steal it if you don't mind.

Party Time!
love your cake and the kids craftiness..what a great way to celebrate and prepare for spring. i wish sometimes that there were moments in life that we truly could bottle and take home with us. i love the way you capture life through your lense. i continually find myself going back to the "Three Sisters picture" of your old cameras. i adore the composition and subject in that one. thank you so much for this reminder to celebrate spring.

Very nice!  Good job, Steve, on the coloring page for the kids.  I'll have to print some later for my own kiddos.

I had a moment like you are referring to~patient~just one moment, yesterday.  LOL  It was while I was licking brownie batter of a spoon in the kitchen. . .with relative quiet children in the other room.  Didn't last long enough, though.  LOL

I like that last picture.  So sweet w/the page that was obviously colored by one of your kids, and the pretty paper bird.  Very creative.

Love C's wrong-side-out dress in the first pic, too.  So dear.
